Netibo is a type of Heat Therapy. The application of heat to the body for pain reliefand health. It can take the form of a hot cloth, hot water, ultrasound, heating pad, hydrocollatorpacks, whirlpool baths, cordless FIR heat therapy wrap, and many others. It can be beneficial to those with arthritis and stiff muscles and injuries to the deep tissue of the skin. Heat may be an effective self-care treatment for conditions like rheumatoid arthritis.
Ventusa or "Cupping" is a type of Traditional Chinese massage, consisting of placing several glass "cups" (open spheres) on the body. A match is lit and placed inside the cup and then removed before placing the cup against the skin. As the air in the cup is heated, it expands, and after placing in the skin, cools, creating lower pressure inside the cup that allows the cup to stick to the skin via suction. When combined with massage oil, the cups can be slid around the back, offering "reverse-pressure massage".
Cranio sacral therapy (also called CST, also spelled Cranial Sacral bodywork or therapy) is an alternative medicine therapy used by osteopaths, massage therapists, naturopaths, and chiropractors. It was developed in 1899 by William Garner Sutherland.
A craniosacral therapy session involves the therapist placing their hands on the patient, which allows them to "tune into the craniosacral rhythm". Craniosacral therapists claim to treat mental stress, neck and back pain, migraines, TMJ Syndrome, and for chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia.
The Banahaw Signature 5in1 Healing Massage
At Banahaw Heals Spa, the Founder developed an innovative massage that uses different modalities and apply them into one- those are Thai, Swedish,Hilot, Shiatsu, and Tuina.
The 5in1 Components
THAI MASSAGE is an ancient/traditional massage based on ayurveda and yoga originally from India. The technique combines massage with yoga-like positions during the course of the massage.
SWEDISH MASSAGE on the other hand uses five styles of long, flowing strokes to massage. The five basic strokes are effleurage (sliding or gliding), petrissage (kneading), tapotement (rhythmic tapping), friction (cross fiber) and vibration or shaking. Swedish massage has shown to be helpful in reducing pain, joint stiffness, and improving function in patients with osteo-arthritis of the knee over a period of eight weeks. It has also been shown to be helpful in individuals with poor circulation.
HILOT is a traditional healing technique from the Philippines that also includes massage techniques. The massage techniques relax stressed muscles. Hilot also includes joint manipulations to help relax stressed muscles. It encompasses a wide variety of techniques beyond the treatment of stressed muscles. Hilot can be used to reset sprained joints, diagnose and treat musculoligamentous and musculoskeletal ailments.
SHIATSU (shi meaning finger and atsu meaning pressure) is a Japanese therapy that uses pressure applied with thumbs, fingers and palms to the same energy meridians as acupressure and incorporates stretching. It also uses techniques such as rolling, brushing, vibrating, grasping. Pressure is sometimes also applied with the feet on the person's back, legs and feet.
TUINA is a hands-on body treatment that uses Chinese taoist and martial art principles to bring the body to balance. The practitioner may brush, knead, roll/press and rub the areas between each of the joints (known as the eight gates) to open the body's defensive (wei) chi and get the energy moving in the meridians as well as the muscles. The practitioner can then use range of motion, traction, massage, with the stimulation of acupressure points; this is claimed to treat both acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions, as well as many non-musculoskeletal conditions.
